Forgiveness

I LOVE THIS SONG!  Such a great reminder.  Jesus forgave me, who am I to not forgive?  I’m making myself more important than the Creator of the Universe!  Forgive!  Speak Life!

Forgiveness

By Tobymac

[These are just the lyrics]

‘Cause we all make mistakes sometimes
And we all stepped across that line
But nothing’s sweeter than the day we find
We find…

It’s hanging over him like the clouds of Seattle
And raining on his swag, falling deeper in the saddle
It’s written on his face, he don’t have to speak a sound
Somebody call the 5-0, we’ve got a man down

Now you can go and play it like your all rock ‘n’ roll
but guilt does a job on each and every man’s soul
And when your head hits the pillow with the night fall
You can bet your life that it’s gonna be a fight y’all

‘Cause we all make mistakes sometimes
And we’ve all stepped across that line
But nothing’s sweeter than the day we find
Forgiveness, forgiveness

And we all stumble and we fall
Bridges burn in the heat of it all
But nothing’s sweeter than the day sweeter than the day
We call

Out for forgiveness
We all need, we all need
We all need forgiveness
We all need, we all need

Mister Lecrae

My mama told me what I would be in for
If I keep all this anger inside me pint up
My heart’s been broken, my wounds been open
And I don’t know if I can hear “I’m sorry” been spoken
But those forgiving much should be quicker to give it
And God forgave me for it all, Jesus bleed forgiveness
So when the stones fly and they aimed at you
Just say “forgive ’em Father, they know not what they do”

Now you can go and play it like your all rock ‘n’ roll
But guilt does a job on each and every man’s soul
And when your head hits the pillow with the night fall
You can bet your life that it’s gonna be a fight y’all

‘Cause we all make mistakes sometimes
And we’ve all stepped across that line
But nothing’s sweeter than the day we find
Forgiveness, forgiveness

And we all stumble and fall
Bridges burn in the heat it all
But nothing’s sweeter than the day
Sweeter than the day we call

Out for forgiveness
You know we need that that that
You know we need that that that
You know we need that that that

No matter how lost you are
You’re not that far, you’re not too far (from forgiveness)
No matter how hurt you are
You’re not that far, you’re not too far (from forgiveness) no matter how wrong you are
You’re not that far, you’re not too far (from forgiveness)
No matter who you are
You’re not that far, you’re not too far (from forgiveness)

Ask for forgiveness

‘Cause we all make mistakes sometimes
And we’ve all stepped across that line
But nothing’s sweeter than the day we find
Forgiveness, forgiveness

And we all stumble and we fall
Bridges burn in the heat of it all
But nothing’s sweeter than the day
Sweeter than the day, we call

Out for forgiveness
We all need, we all need
We all need forgiveness
We all need, we all need

No matter how lost you are
We all need forgiveness
No matter how hurt you are
We all need forgiveness
No matter how wrong you are
You’re not that far, you’re not too far (from forgiveness)
No matter who you are
You’re too that far, you’re not too far

We all need forgiveness forgiveness
We all need forgiveness forgiveness
We all need forgiveness forgiveness
We all need forgiveness forgiveness

Is God a Just God or a Merciful God?

Well, He is both just and merciful.  But I think that we tend to look at the God-is-going-to-be-angry-with-you-and-blast-you-to-smithereens side more than the God-sent-His-son-to-die-for-us-and-He-is-so-merciful side.  It seems like we picture God sitting up in Heaven, waiting for us to mess up so He can punish us.  That is so not God’s character!

If God doesn’t forgive, He wouldn’t have sent Jesus to die on the cross. Because the just thing to do is not save the world. We don’t deserve to be saved, but God, in His everlasting, unending grace and mercy, sent Jesus so that we could be with Him forever.

God is a just God. But God is ALSO a loving, grace-filled God.

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God IS LOVE.” ~1 John 4:8

“For the Grace of God had appeared that offers salvation to all people.” ~Titus 2:11

I Am Yours

By Grammar_girl

Where am I?

How can I escape,Seek the Lord

From this horrendous black hole I’m in?

A hole called Sin,

Sucking me in,

And no one can help me out.

Light piercing through,

Shining on my face.

There is someone who can help me,

Make me be whom I’m meant to be,

Not just someone,

In the dark hole of Sin.

Jesus, help me leave the dark,

The light is what I want.

You are whom I need.

And for you alone will I bleed,

And sweat, and die for,

Because you died for me.

“Who am I?”

I ask my Lord.

“You are my beloved.”

He tells me,

“You are the one I brought

Out of the dark and into the light.

“I love you,

And I will guide you,

Even through the darkest hole called Sin.

And you will always win.

For I am with you,

Always.

“Even if you mess up,

I will never leave.

You are now my child.

And I am your Father.

You are loved.

And you are mine.”

“Don’t worry what others think about you.

They cannot comprehend,

How much I love you,

I made you in my image.

You are like a little bird,

Flying for the first time.bible stuffs

“But I will help you fly.

And you will never die,

For you will live with me forever.

You are loved,

And you are mine.”

Submitting to Authorities (Whether You Like ‘Em or Not)

In this verse was in my inbox 2 days ago:

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” ~Romans 13:1

What a good reminder for me!  I have the tendency to get angry over government issues, and things that the government is doing that seem wrong to me.  But I have to remind myself, like the verse says, that God established the authorities in this country.  I should be respectful of that.

And what better way to reach people for Jesus?  If a non-believer sees how much we, as believers, love and respect our authorities (and quite frankly, not just our government, but also everyone we come into contact with), they may ask, “Why are you so loving and respectful to everyone?”  And we can respond, “Jesus saved me from myself, and I want to live my life to glorify Him.”

And it’s not about forcing people to accepting Jesus.  That will just turn people away from Jesus.  It isn’t about that at all.  If God gives you the perfect opportunity to share the gospel with someone, then GO for it!  But if the person you’re talking to isn’t willing to accept Jesus, DON’T force it on him or her!  Just wait for God to change his or her heart.

Anyway, God used that verse as a great reminder for me, and I hope it is for you, as well.

Novella: Yahtzee

This is the last chapter of a book I wrote with my sister entitled Yahtzee.  It still needs some major editing, so please, PLEASE let me know your thoughts in the comments.  Here’s a bit of background to help you understand the story:

Yahtzee is a kitten in a family of cats, and she’s always getting into some sort of trouble.  Yahtzee’s siblings are Ginny, Eddie, and Louie (pronounced LOO-ee); her mother is Miss Casey.  “Mr. Filup” (Yahtzee misspelled his name; he’s really Mr. Philip) is Yahtzee’s imaginary friend.  Oh, and the picture of the cat is what Yahtzee’s supposed to look like.  Anyway, here ya go:

Chapter 8

Yahtzee’s Christmas

It was Christmas Eve night. Yahtzee and her siblings were hanging their stockings for Kitty Kringle to fill with goodies. Yahtzee had an entire list of things that she had sent to Kitty Kringle with her letter. She wrote a list of the things she wanted:

A RAG DOLL

A WIFE FOR MR FILUP

A KITTEN STUFFED ENIMEL

A RED BLANCET

A DOLHOWSE

A NUTKRAKER

AUNT MILDRED’S BOTTOM CIKED (*)

A PRINSESS COLORING BOOK

CRANS

A RED TUTU

A TEEARA WITH RUBYS

A NEW ROOM WITH NO GINY

The other kittens had asked for “simpler” things such as a new scooter for Eddie, a bike for Louie, and new stuffed animals for Ginny because Yahtzee had taken so many of them for the turkey. (**)

Yahtzee had plans for her presents for everyone else. Louie was getting ashes that she had found in the fireplace. Eddie was getting a fancy tissue that Yahtzee had written on.  It said: TO EDDY FROM YAHTZEE.  Ginny was getting one of Yahtzee’s old dolls that was missing its head.  Miss Casey was getting litter from the toilet in a little bag that read: TO THE WORSTEST MOMMY IN THE HOLE WROLD FROM YAHTZEE.

“Mommy?” asked Ginny. “What time will Kitty Kringle be here?”

“Only when every kitten in the world is in bed! And speaking of which, it’s way past your bedtime!” answered Miss Casey. “Upstairs, all of you! Time for bed!”

Yahtzee, however, had other ideas. She was still stuffing her own stocking with candies she had bought on the way home from school. She decided that, in case Kitty Kringle couldn’t come, she would still get plenty of candy.

“Yahtzee, did you hear me? I said time for bed,” said Miss Casey.

Yahtzee stomped up the stairs. “Merry Christmas, sweetie,” said Miss Casey blowing Yahtzee a kiss. Yahtzee was too excited to sleep and talked out loud to Mr. Phillip until Ginny threatened to “tell mommy.” Then Yahtzee shut her mouth and eyes. Soon she fell fast asleep.

In what seemed like only a few minutes, it was Christmas morning. Yahtzee sprang out of bed and ran downstairs closely followed by Ginny, Eddie, and Louie.

“What did Kitty Kringle bring us?” asked Eddie excitedly. “Did he bring me my scooter?”

“Hey! There’s my bike! I knew he’d bring it!” shrieked Louie and started riding it around the living room.

“Oh, new stuffed animals!” said Ginny bending down and gathering all of them into her arms.

Yahtzee peeked into her stocking and saw crayons, a tiny red blanket rolled into a ball and something else. It was a little bag of coal tucked in the toe of her stocking. Beside it lay a little note that read:

Try a little harder to be good next year.

                                            Kitty Kringle

Yahtzee was furious. Coal! She had asked him for everything but coal, and he went ahead and gave it to her anyway! “Mommy! Kitty Kringle only brought coal for me!” said Yahtzee, and she showed Miss Casey the note. Miss Casey tried hard not to smile.

“Well, sweetie. Maybe Kitty Kringle is right,” said Miss Casey looking away so that Yahtzee couldn’t see her smiling.

“Right? RIGHT? OF COURSE HE ISN’T RIGHT!” Yahtzee shouted.

“Yahtzee, don’t you dare use that tone with me!” said Miss Casey. “Kitty Kringle did bring some of the things you asked for, didn’t he?”

“ONLY A STUPID RED BLANKET AND SOME CRAYONS! WHAT ABOUT MY TUTU? WHAT ABOUT MY TIARA? WHAT ABOUT MY DOLLHOUSE? WHAT ABOUT AUNT MILDRED’S KICK—“

“Yahtzee!” Miss Casey scolded. “Have you opened any of your other presents yet? Just try to be good next year and then maybe you’ll get everything you ask for.”

“Okay, Mommy,” sighed Yahtzee. For once she actually listened to her mother. “I’ll try. By the way, Mommy, you’re not the worstest mommy in the whole world. Throw away the stupid present I gave you.”

Miss Casey smiled and hugged her daughter. “Merry Christmas, Yahtzee!”

“I love you, Mommy! Merry Christmas!”

*Aunt Mildred is Yahtzee’s aunt, obviously, and she’s grumpy 24/7.  She and Yahtzee don’t really get along.

**Yahtzee stuffed the Thanksgiving turkey with Ginny’s stuffed animals.
